Week of February 6-9-- LONG READ, Important news!

Week of February 6-9, 2017 Plus EXTRA notices!   A LONG READ!

This will be a very fast paced week!

We are starting our keyboarding skills back up again, for the returning and the Jan. start students, this will be new.

The first 5 minutes of class will be for keyboard practice- GO TO- Typing.com, click on students, then pick your level (most will be on beginner) Please, when you finish and it states Words Per Minute and Accuracy, write down those numbers and which lesson you finished.

Those will be turned in to the instructor.
Our lessons this week are two -fold:

1. The Loving Story is the focus in your regular classes, and we will touch on it in Computer Literacy by reading the article at READWORKS.ORG/books/passages - the article is:
Shining Star- This is written for lower grades, so everyone should be able to read the passage with no problems.
2. Understanding how to write to a Congressman.
This will be in conjunction with the upcoming event that we are invited to participate in: the lunch and a conversation with state Sen. Kel Seliger and state Rep. Brooks Landgraf, moderated by Texas Tribune co-founder and CEO Evan Smith.
There is a link, which is on the whiteboard at the front of the class, you must RSVP to attend this lunch.

There is also a link to the example of a letter to a Senator or Representative.

All students will print a copy of the example, and take it home to use to compose a letter. That letter will be written in Word2013. It will be attached to an email to the instructor. DUE- THURSDAY!

If you would like, you can also print out that letter to actually send to your Congress member.

We will utilize the Texas.gov site to find addresses for our State Congress members.

***We also have Aztec to work on this week! ***

Pre-HSE- Mathematics> Fractions> Changing Forms

GED Prep- Mathematical Reasoning> Quantitative Problem Solving with Data and Statistics> Determining Probability

Remember-- You must work in Aztec an hour per week, this week it is going to be hard to get any time in during class.

***** There is a Free Performance of the Elephant's Graveyard******
If you have not seen this performance, it is very touching, very emotional.  Rather mature.
