Attention all Texas National and Texas State Guard students,

We would first like to say, thank you for your service! It is students like you that make Odessa College a Rising Star! As an intuition of higher education we observe state laws pertaining to active military duty. Deployment will not impact your status as a student or your financial aid. Serving our country during difficult times is your priority, and we stand behind you.

If you are called to serve for Hurricane Harvey or any other deployment, please contact the Veterans Affairs Office at (432) 335-6833 or at veterans@odessa.edu. Please provide your name, student ID #, and copy of official orders.

We will keep you in our thoughts and hope for your safe return.

Thank you,

Gloria Rangel

Along with Welcome Week activities and the beginning of school, this message about helping is quite important!

Odessa College President, Gregory D. Williams, released the following statement in response to Hurricane Harvey, and calls on the Odessa College family to come together in support of our friends, family and colleagues along the Texas Coast, in Houston and in southeast Texas who have been impacted by the devastating storm:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and communities experiencing loss and devastation from the effects of Hurricane Harvey. I encourage the Odessa College family to come together and support Texas during this difficult time.”

The Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management is coordinating collection of relief items for the residents affected by the storm, and we are working with our fellow West Texas community colleges on a plan to get monetary assistance to our southern neighbors. Campus drop off locations and donation instructions will be released soon. In the meantime, the West Texas Food Bank recommends donating the following:
